About Your Mistress Mischief Maker

In short, Carly Anne Ravnikar is a punk artist native to South Eastern Wisconsin. She is an eloquent hoarder of poems and crafts who struggles to remain within the confines of society. She works professionally in higher education, semi-regularly as a yoga instructor, and constantly as a poor schmuck strung out on manic creative energy.

In 2018 she was selected as a Poet Laureate for the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

She is the author of Housewifery (Dancing Girl Press, 2015). Her poetry has also appeared in The Bathroom, Monkey Puzzle, Outhouse, Straylight, boo (2010, 2011), Bending Light Into Verse Vol II, and The New Gnus Literary Journal (2011), and more recently in the Bonkness Monster. Some evidence of this can be found under the Poetry and Links section.

In addition to appearing in “The Trial of Goldilocks,” “Addict,” “And Then There Was None,” “My Fair Lady,” “Hello, Dolly,” “The Vagina Monologues,” and other school and community productions, her micro play, “Bo(a)r(e)d,” was produced by the UW-Parkside Original New Play Festival.

Her visual art has been featured in Outhouse and the Racine Arts Council’s “Truth, Trust, and Transition” exhibition. Check out her more recent work.

Her academic discourse has been accepted by The Parkside Senior Showcase, The UW-System Senior Showcase, and various Gender and LGBTQ related conferences around the country. Recently, she has facilitated empowering workshops on 21st century women’s self-portraiture.
